CCN & Hetton Hawks Members Road Training Event - Saturday Feb 27th

This Saturday, Hetton Hawks club members and parents are able to come along and do a CCN-type training event.  As last year, the format will be a race-type, but with no formal prizes and completely random calling of sprints and the infamous "devil" (which means don't be last over the line!)  We will also do some timed laps if time allows.

Coaching 20th February 2010

We return to coaching on the road this weekend - so get out your road bikes or change the tyres for a something with a little less tread.
We will be getting used to riding in groups again and testing ourselves against the clock with a one lap time trial.
See you Satruday

Lost Helmet and Gloves

A New Specialised Helmet black / Grey and a pair of gloves were in the centre on Sat morning and incorrectly picked up and taken home. The correct owner is missing them and would be very grateful for their return. Please check your vehicles to see if you inadvertently pick-up the items on departure on Saturday.

Coaching Programme to March

Just a short note to outline the transition to the road for 2010.  The coaches have organised the sessions as follows:

Sat Feb 20th - Group Riding and timed laps if time allows!

Sat Feb 27th - Cycle Coaching North road training event for all ages.

Sat March 6th - CCN road training event

Sat March 13th - final CCN.  Please note that these events are pretty much unstructured: no points, no placings, no egos!  Just for getting used to race-type riding again.

Friday March 19th - Sun 21st - Training Camp.

UPDATED Hamsterley Ride Saturday 13th February and Coaching at Hetton

Hi, further to this article: I can now confirm that a Go-Ride off road will be available led by Ian Maitland with Joanne Danby (Club Welfare Officer) assisting.  In addition, John Davidson will be doing some riding on the road circuit for those who want to dust off their road legs in preparation for the 20th (see Coaching Programme story) Many thanks to Ian, Joanne and John for providing something for those that can't make it to Hamsterley.

Sunday Ride - 24th January

Attention all club members! Tony Fawcett and I are offering a club ride this coming Sunday, starting at 10 am.  Riders can sign up either by letting me know by e-mail (see below) or checking with me or Tony on Saturday 23rd after the coaching session.

Adults are very welcome on this ride, which will be at a steady pace - especially as Tony and I have been on extended pie tasting over the Christmas break.......

Starting point will be arranged to suit - either Hetton or just outside Durham at the Arnison Centre.

Coaching Saturday 23rd January 2010

With our planned coaching programme in tatters due to the weather, we will finally be doing some coaching this Saturday, folks!

We should have two Go-Rides and a session for the Intermediates and Advanced riders - all off road of course.

Please note that the car park was actually worse than an ice-rink last Saturday and the centre was not open.  I will attempt to contact them tomorrow to ensure that the centre is opened, but they may have closed for health and safety reasons.
