Josh's 1st Blog !
Captain’s blog 19th October
Hi everyone as of last week’s AGM I’m now boy’s captain taking over from Joe who has done a great job for the past two years.
Firstly well done to Joe for two good years as captain, his blogs have been really interesting and funny to read, as well as the sessions he has helped Alex with I think he would make a great coach if he comes back to the club after university.
Secondly well done to the committee who have managed to put on two national events this year, I think the 2 day was amazingly good teamwork having kids chipping in it really showed that the club could operate under pressure.
Right now for the blog, I’ll start from the 5th of October and the Cleveland wheelers hill climb.
The hill climb was held in Carlton in Cleveland which is a small village outside Middlesborough (smoggies r us!). The hill itself is 1.2 miles long and one of the steepest in the area. There was 28 solo starters and 1 tandem. The winner Michael Dales completed the hill in 7m:16s and the slowest of the day but still an amazing achievement was Bryan Bevis and Laura Kotch on the tandem with a time of 15m:16s.
Matthews Woods and Josh Teasdale both had great rides both winning there age categories Matthew did a 7m: 25s and josh a 7m: 35s. I was really pleased with my ride getting second in my age cat and came home with £10 prize money.
Right I’ll skip to the agm now.
Meetings really aren’t my thing so I really can’t remember much apart from being voted captain I really hope I can do as good a job as Joe has. Well done to Emma T for being voted captain again.
After the voting had finished all the kids were allowed to go and ride our bikes, me Joe and Robbie organized a route up to the camel humps in a round about way. It was my first time on my cross bike in a while and I really enjoyed it, as by the looks of things did everyone including Joe’s dad (Joe Mann’s dad not Joe Curran’s dad as he was in the meeting). The camel humps were a great laugh but I think I need to work on keeping the bike on the ground as I was all over the place on the way down.
After the ride Joe and I did a short bit of training through the single track and over the hurdles then we raced around the wheel which I lost but it was great fun.
On Sunday me dad and jake went out with Stockton wheelers on their club run which was great we had about 20 riders out and we bumped into Tony Hodgson on the way out we did about 50 miles in all with a cafe stop at Toft Hill after a really long climb well done jakey for getting up it it was really hard we did a chain gang on the way back keeping the speed above 25 mph which was great fun on the lanes but it was hard.
I’ll hopefully see you all on Saturday
Josh
