Well done to all the riders who participated in a very exciting day in Durham. 

Congratulations to all the organisers and many thanks for staging an excellent and hugely popular day of riding. Entertainment was provided throughout the day at County Hall and it was fantastic to see the all of the riders crossing the finishing line after completing 'their Big Ride', from the young tots that undertook the Mini Ride right through to the 25 mile champions.

For the second year, Alex rode spectacularly and completed the ride ahead of the 1000 strong pack. This year he was accompanied throughout by Joe, so the two Hetton Riders crossed the finish line together. Emma T pushed her dad hard around the circuit and finished 3rd overall and 1st girl back.

Hundreds of pictures were taken by the rides official photographers and these shall be added to a gallery on this site when they become available.

Many of the young Hetton Hawks riders were out in force demonstrating their bike handling skills, well done to them.

Smiles all day from all attending created a wonderful spirit at the event and the event demonstrated the many positives associated with cycling.

Wow.. it is back already.  After the success of last year, this years event will be crammed with riders. Entry numbers are already beyond last year so expect to have lots of company at the Ride.

Hetton Hawks will have a skills challenge set out near the finish .. so if you are not too exhausted by the riding, pop across and see how you manage the Skills Course.

Always popular, the skills challenge lets you test your bike handing skills against other riders. This year we will be timing riders and there will be prizes given to the 3 top times.

Route Two:         Middle Ride - 10 miles

Route Three:       Little Ride - 3 miles
