Emzy's Scottish Blog
Hiya Everyone,
Well done to all of the British Cyclists in the Beijing Olympics. We were awesome!!!!!
Well here it is the last week of the six week holidays, can you believe it? Hope you have all enjoyed it. If you are looking for something to do for the last week there are road skills Tuesday to Friday at Hetton.
This weekend some of us headed up to Scotland to Glasgow for a Circuit Race. We travelled up on Friday to vist Bellaheussen Park and check out the course. The park is large with wide paths with one small and one larger hill. We weren't sure where the course would be so we rode around most of the park checking it out. There was also a slightly banked cycle track which we tried. It was a 400metres, fenced off, made just for track cycling which made it safe for both cyclists and pedestrians. We could do with one at Hetton (or anywhere in the North East)!!!
After that we went to our hotel, got ready, and went for a meal in the pub next door. Then we went to bed to get plenty of rest.
Saturday we had breakfast and headed back to the park. We signed on and a girl from Johnstone Wheelers (sorry didn't get her name) was kind enough to take me around the course and I was able to take Thomas Mein and Emma Brady to show them.
They were both off in the C and D race which was rode together. Thomas and Emma had planned to go straight to the front and ride through and off and it worked very well. They led from the front with Thomas winning and Emma close behind.
My race was A and B together, I planned to stay with the leaders for as long as possible but also to focus on the girls to try to beat them. I managed to stay with the leaders for 4 laps then got dropped off the back. The A girl beat me but I beat the B girls so I was pleased with that. I still think I could do better.
At the presentation the Scottish people made us feel very welcome and we were very pleased with our prizes. The Hetton Hawks came away with a £100n in our hands. Thomas Winning £30, Emma B winning £20 and me winning £50. Thats the most money I have came away with from one race so I am really pleased.
We travelled back after that then finished the night of with a curry at Jamies. My mam and Jackie drinking of course.
Hope you all can make it this week to the training at Hetton. I will Be there on Friday to watch.
See you all on Friday.
Love Emma T xxx
