Emzys North East Youth Tour Blog
Hiya Everyone,
Well we done it again only better!!! The North East Youth Tour was a great success. The weather was fantastic, two days of solid sunshine, a great improvement on the Hetton Classic earlier this year.
Thanks to all the people who helped to organise and make sure the event was a success. The racing was great and I think everyone seemed to enjoy themselves over the two days. Well done to all who competed.
There has been and still is lots going on. I did a track session with Josh and Jake M and Alex Hopper at Manchester. We all travelled down in the mini-bus that Darren managed to hire. Then Josh M and myself went to Mallory Park to a British Cycling Regional Racing School Training Day. It was excellent better than the last one and I really enjoyed it. We got the chance to ride in a really big group (more than a 100) something I had never done before and at speed. We learned lots of things. We broke into 4 groups and spent time doing cornering, skills, team work and racing. I rode about 55 miles in the day. Thanks to the coaches who took the session and to the elite riders who supported the event.
Last Thursday my Dad took me, Alex H and Josh M to Scunthorpe Track for another British Cycling School of Racing Event. It was the first time I had ridden on an outdoor track (unless you count riding my mountain bike around the rundown track at Gypsies Green) its a 500 meter track and the banking is less steep than Manchester but it was still good fun to ride. Unfortunately we only got a couple of hours riding in before it started to rain really heavy.
On Saturday Tony H took the session at Hetton. We did racing skills for a couple of hours. Thanks Tony.
Must go now as I'm going to see The Dark Knight at the Pics.
Don`t forget Jon Batemans sessions at Hetton the first one starts on the 18-21 of August and the other one is on the 26-28 of August. Hope to see you there.
See you soon.
