Emzy's Alton Towers Blog

Hiya Everyone,

Horwich Road race took place 22/6/08 and the Hawks were well represented. Emma B came first girl in the Under 10's and Thomas Mein had a good race coming 2nd in the same category.
Joe Mann came 4th in the under 12's with Charlie T winning that category. Harry came 2nd in the under 14's. I didn't go but everyone says the carnival atmosphere is really good.

Last weekend the same contenders plus the Moody's went to Curborough to race again!! Again we did well with excellent performances from everyone. The Hetton Hawks kit must be getting noticed now!!!!

I didn't go, I've been training hard, but I went down to Duncombe Park to watch the British Cycling Womens Road Race Championship. I was hoping to get Nicole Cooke's autograph but thought she might be too preoccupied with racing. I was worried about asking her but she was really nice and signed the programme for me. I've got the photo to prove it and I was really pleased to find out that she had won the race.

When we left there we traveled down to meet up with the Brady's and Tanfield's and had our evening meal with them. We stayed over and the next day went to Alton Towers. It was the first time I've been and it was great. My favourite ride was Oblivion a really high roller coaster which climbs, holds you over the top, then drops down fast into a dark steamy hole. GREAT!!! We were there from 10am until 6pm then went for Sunday (late) dinner then home. We all had a great time but got really wet on the water rides.
Jamie nearly had us tipped over in the raft ride!!!

We have had 2 Crofts which I have been to and I enjoyed both of them. I haven't been to League 2000 but I know we have good turnouts at both events so well done to everyone who attends.

We will have Hawks competing at Hetton and Blackpool this weekend and I'm not sure about the mountain biking but Joe
will keep you informed about what they are doing.

I am hoping to do another Friday night track session soon and I think there is a training day at Mallory Park soon. I've been before and is was a great experience so I would like to go back.

Hope to see you all soon.
Love from
Emma T
