Hiya Everyone, Last weekend the Meins, Moodys, Bradys, Tanfields and my family traveled to the North West to compete in the 3 day Youth Tour.It started with a time trial on the Friday Night where we met up with Matthew Wood and his dad. We all did well in the time trial. The weather was good and then we went back to the hotel where we were staying for 2 nights. We went to bed early to prepare for the next day. It was a circuit race on a really good secure course at Preston. The weather was changeable and 10mins before my race it started to rain, I was sure I was going to get soaked but luckily it stopped and although I found the race hard I was pleased with the race managing to stay with the bunch until the last lap.The Sunday was another circuit race at Liverpool. I knew it would be faster and I found it difficult to keep contact,I got dropped after 2 laps. I was disappointed but at least I know I need to work on my speed. Overall we had a great weekend with some excellent performances from everyone. Some of the results are as follows but a full set can be found on the British cycling website from our club link. OVERALL UNDER 8 2nd Ben Moody UNDER 10 3rd Thomas Mein 6th Jacob Moody UNDER 10 GIRLS 2nd Emma Brady UNDER 12 1st Charlie Tanfield UNDER 12 GIRLS 6th Katie Mein UNDER 14 2nd Harry Tanfield 21st Joshua Moody UNDER 14 GIRLS 7th Emma Thompson UNDER 16 26th Matthew Woods The Friday before the tour, Josh, Jake and myself traveled down to the track at Manchester for a SQT. A SQT is a Structured Quality Training session on the track for two hours. We started by warming up as one group we were all up on the blue line then changed each lap. Then we split into two groups, on either side of the track and when the coach blew the whistle the first rider sprinted to the back of the other group. Then the coach blew the whistle twice and the the first two riders worked together to gain a lead on the groups. I really enjoyed the sprinting because it is the best thing about cycling and I am a good sprinter. There was a race at the end and Josh did really well. The star of the night was Jake he had to work really hard to keep up with all us older kids but he managed it. Well done Jake!!! Thanks to Peter who took the session. Yesterday was the 3rd Coalfield race I didn't ride but my dad and mam helped with the marshalling and told me everyone did really well. Especially Thomas and Jordon. Congratulations to everyone. Horwich Road Race is on today and I know the Meins,Mann's Brady's and Tanfields are all competing, hope they have all done well. I will see you all soon. Love Emma T xxx
