The Brown's Bank Holiday Blog
A day at the races.
Well what a Bank Holiday for the Brown Boys. First on the agenda was the Richmond Grass Track Meeting at the Cricket Club. What a fine days racing / entertainment. First of the Lads races was the U8 race with a group of approx 15 heading off to do one full circuit around the banked grass track. Arran led from the start line and was overtaken near the halfway point but as he looked over his shoulder he clipped a riders back wheel brining him straight over the handlebars and facing planted the lovely Richmond Turf. After running over and picking him up he just managed to finish the race.
Next up was the Over 8's. Angus had a good start but was overtaken on the back straight by M Worner (TeesdaleCRC) on the 2nd lap then coming off the last corner into the straight J Edmond (Ferryhill Wheelers) out sprinted him to the line for 2nd place.
From the previous results was the U8's Handicapped race so Arran had just over 1/2 a lap head start and meant business this time so did some overtaking and won by a long way.
The Over 8's handicap was a cracking race with Angus getting less than a 1/4 lap head start shoot way after the pistol went off and started passing riders. By the end of his 1st lap only had a couple to reel in but Miles and Edmond were slowly catching but coming off the last corner dropped the gears and flew over the line.
Hetton Hawks got 1st place overall in the U8's and Over 8's at the Richmond Grass Track Meeting 08. All the kids got a lovely medal, fruit and a lucky prize. Excellent days racing and great fun was had by all the children racing.
From there was a quick dash over to the League 2000 after a quick refuel at the KFC !! This is the first time Angus and Arran have been to a League 2000 event so was not quite sure what to expect but to cut along storey short and probably upset a few regulars they both got 1st place in each of their races for Hetton Hawks.
