Joe's Blog
Hi everyone.
Thanks to Tony for taking the older training this Saturday. I really enjoyed it. We left the wimps who don't like doing anything that gets them out of breath (I won't mention his name but it begins with Jo and ends with sh!). Anyway, there was a decent group of us who went out on the roads - Kier, Edward, James, Ali, Alex, Tony and I.
We didn't go out towards Lumley, we went in the other direction on a hillier route. For the first half, we were just working together as a group, keeping a steady pace, but in the second half, we rode some hills. Tony said there was a mars bar for the first to the top, Alex clinched it, followed by me and then Tony. We did a few of these hill sprints on our way back and I everyone seemed pretty tired by the end.
After the session there was a short meeting, and the North East Youth Tour was discussed. It sounds like it's going to be another good race this year, but it's on at the same time as one of the rounds of the Scottish cross series so there might not be as many people there as there would normally be.
The race at Cleveland Police HQ was on yesterday, and Hetton Hawks were well represented. Thomas Mein and Emma Brady won their categories, and the other riders I saw also performed very well. I couldn't find the full results so I don't know how the others did.
I won't be at Hetton this week because I'll be travelling to Dalbeattie to ride the Scottish xc second round. There are 6 Hetton Hawks going up, so we should do quite well.
See you in a couple of weeks,
Joe.
