ROAD RIDE - * Hetton Session at Park replaced *
This Saturday there is no session at Hetton as the circuit has been
booked by another group. However, there is a ride on roads around
Northumberland for those capable of riding 20-30 miles. The road ride
will be split into two group, both starting from the Sports Centre car
park in Ponteland, and meeting up for a cafe stop at Capheaton. This is
a club ride, not a coached session, and will rely upon riding support
from parents.
Riders who are in the intermediate group on Saturday coaching
sessions will ride about 10-12 miles each way over rolling roads,
whereas the advanced riders will do about 20 miles out over more
testing roads and 12 miles back.
Riders in the intermediate group must be accompanied in a ratio of
one adult to two children for safety reasons, so this is a great
opportunity for parents to get their bikes out for a social ride on
quiet country lanes.
Both rides will start at 10 am on Saturday morning from the Sports
Centre car park (please be ready to leave at 10 am - if you turn up at
10.05, we will be gone) and finish between 13.00 and 13.30. Please
bring a rainjacked, some food and drink for the cycling part, some
money for the cafe stop and spare tube/pump, incase of punctures.
If you have any questions, I can be contacted on tony.fawcett@durham.ac.uk until Friday evening.
