About Hetton Hawks

Welcome to Hetton Hawks Cycling Club

The club is for children and young people up to the age of 23. It is a "junior development club", which means that our aim is to provide high quality coaching and support for young riders. A rider can be a member of a cycling or triathlon club and still be a member of Hetton Hawks – the difference is, with the Hawks you will be riding with people of your own age every week.

Hetton Hawks is a British Cycling 'Go Ride' Club. Clubs under the Go Ride scheme agree to make sure that the riders are trained by qualified coaches and supported by properly trained officials. Our club has support from parents and helpers, who are the officials of the club, plus Cycle Coaching North coaches to provide the training input. Please feel free to browse the various areas in the site.

The diary section lists the range of activities that we have planned over the coming weeks. If you would like to get a feel for the events, have a look at the Image Gallery. There you will find lots of photograph albums with pictures of riders at the numerous events in which Hetton Hawks riders have participated. The club takes great pride in being a friendly environment and is very welcoming of riders who are keen to get involved in cycling .. at any level.

The main focus of the club is to provide coaching to young riders to improve their confidence on a bike and develop bike handling skills. With this grounding riders are then provided with additional skills to enable them to participate in club, regional and national races. If you are interested or even just curious, pop along to one of the coaching sessions listed in the diary, generally on a Saturday morning, and just introduce yourself to one of the adults. Everyone in the club, was at one stage, new to the club... in fact we have new people joining every month. You will find lots of encouragement, support and information to get you involved in the range of activities which we run.

If you would like to ask any questions before you come along, have a look at the contacts page and drop an email to any of the people listed.
