Routes for Durham Big Ride 2007
Route one: Big Ride
This route is approximately 25 miles (40k). It will be fully signed and marshalled with additional traffic control where needed to ensure safety.
From Durham County Hall the route heads out of the City along the B6532 through Sacriston and then along minor roads towards Annfield Plain. The route skirts the south of Annfield Plain before turning generally westwards through wonderful countryside south of Leadgate to join the off-road Lanchester Line Cycle route (NCN 14).
From there the meandering route will follow the cycle path towards the start at County Hall where participants can collect their commemorative ‘T’ shirts and goody bags, and enjoy the displays and activities.
Route two: Little Ride
This is a family ride where children, cycle novices, the less able-bodied and families can take a gentle ride around the picturesque grounds of Aykley Heads.
Starting at County Hall, it follows the paths around the back of the buildings up to Aykley Heads in a loop to finish back at County hall. The distance is approximately 3 miles (4.7k)
Along the route there will be attractions as well as plenty of opportunity to enjoy a picnic on route.
The Little Ride is an all “off road” ride that is ideal for the whole family.
