Middleton Bank Race

Saturdays training session was a good one, loads of kids turned out as usual. Today, Sunday was an early rise. We went to the Middleton Bank Classic which was put on by Hetton Hawks, John D. There were about 80 riders there and me and Elliot too. It was great being led out along to the start line behind the motor bikes and the official cars, riding in a great big long bunch, me and Elliot were allowed to join on the back of the bunch for the first lap, each lap being 9 miles of hills and more hills. Half way through the racing we did another lap, then headed off to the finish line to wait for the final sprint. They raced 8 laps then a further 1 mile to the finish line, what an excellent race to watch and join in. Hetton guest appearances included Sarfraz, Steve, Dave, Alex, Ben, and the 2 Ronnies oops I mean the 2 Tonys. Gill, Julie and my mam were the trolly dollies, serving teas and coffees and John Errington was the official 'washer upperer' and there were plenty of cakes and pies. By the way does any one know why its called Scots Gap, apparently Alex has a great theory, it used be named Scots Cap after a scotsman dropped his hat there!!!!!!answers on a post card please.....My mam says the hut there was just what Hetton needs.

and....

Forgot to mention that there were a couple of new riders came to the club on Saturday who saw us at Datlon Park the weekend before, they joined in the session.
